Ed,

I read you are the RSS guru so I need your help.

I want financial data, from as many sources as I can get. As an example
Bloomberg, but they discontinued their RSS feed in 2006. I found where others
suggested FEED43. Guess it's a bit tricky to set up but maybe it works.

There must be many RSS feeds in the financial world, most will be irrelevant
but I won't know until I check them out.

Also, what I would like to do is dump the RSS feeds into one file and then run
Sonar Professional over them searching for the setups I configure in
Sonar....see writeup below.

What do you suggest, how best to do this. Is there one source to grab all the
feeds I might find or will I have to utilize something like this FEED43,
especially for those firms that don't provide an RSS feed?

Thanks for any help.

John

Here is a writeup on the document software:

Text Retrieval/Document Management

Sonar Professional is designed for archiving, researching and annotating large
bodies of text. Sonar Professional allows you to search through thousands of
documents at extraordinary speeds. Typically 12,500 pages of text can be
searched in a second! So even highly complex searches which compare a number of
variables can be conducted almost instantly.

The search results displayed on the screen can include both page images for PDF
files and the plain text from those pages, side-by-side. Printing the images
produces the equivilent of a photocopy of the original pages. For other
documents, there is no image associated with the pages, only text. In either
case, the found search phrase is highlighted in the text window. The content of
the text can be easily copied and pasted into other applications.

Sonar Professional can process many types of text and word processing files so
information already contained in computer files can be easily integrated. Sonar
Professional can also search and view legacy documents scanned with Sonar Image.

It's a multi-user product - in a network environment several people can view
and search the same or different files. This makes it simple and inexpensive to
build a comprehensive and enterprise-wide document retrieval/management system.

And here is a writeup on their WebSonar:

Personal Web Server with High-Speed Searching for the Internet/Intranet

WebSonar is a Macintosh-based application that combines an intelligent "deep
water" search engine with a standard web server. Think of it as rolling Google,
FaceBook, and the Cloud into one simple application that allows anyone to
create, publish, and share a library from their own computer.

You create your own personal library by simply adding documents to a folder.
You, and if you allow it, others, can then access your library from any
computer running a web browser!

And there is no need for you to deal with any HTML coding - WebSonar does that
for you automatically!

Based on Virginia Systems' Sonar Professional search engine, WebSonar can
search at lightening speeds, displaying the full content and exact page numbers
of all found documents.

There are two versions of WebSonar: a basic-user and a professional-user:

* The basic-user version allows a single folder full of thousands of documents
and files to be published and then searched from any computer, including a
local one, using a web browser.

* The professional-user version allows for any number of folders to be grouped
into "libraries," published, and then searched using any web browser. It can
handle a large number of concurrent users, individually controlling and
restricting access to the various libraries as desired.
