Ed,

I have three Airport Extremes, and around 9 Airport Expresses. They have all
been running for 7 years without a hitch other than one of the Extremes. What
great equipment these things are. Some are wireless connections to printers
that were made before wireless was included, most are throughout the house
piping music to speakers in the various rooms. I used to use one as an
extension but when an Apple tech told me it slowed the connection by half due
to the way it works I gave that up, and I had noticed quite the slowdown so
that's why I call Apple in California in the first place.

I will remind everyone of the problem I had several years ago when the house
was being built. I had lots of people in and out so all the Expresses I had
stored in a gun safe. Once I was ready to begin using I found the first
Express was bad, new out of the box. Strange. Then the second, the third.
They were all bad. Apple replaced them all BUT the canisters inside the safe
that removes moisture did something to these things that fried them all. I had
NO idea. The replacements have been in here for years and those that I have
given others have been running years and years. I gave one to a staff person
that was the old flying saucer model, it just quit about three months ago and
that thing must have been over 10 years old.

I will REALLY be glad for Apple to finally bring out the 1 gb wireless routers,
this will not only increase the speed but supposedly double the range.

John
