Does anyone have any advice on how to recover a file that is (was) on a flash
drive that got overwritten by a file of the same name?

Scenario: User is working on a file called FILE1 and saving it periodically to
a USB flash drive that is connected to her computer. She also has a file called
FILE1 on her computer’s hard drive, but that FILE1 has little information in
it; all of the new information has been saved in the one on her flash drive. At
some point she copies the old FILE1 from her computer to the flash drive,
overwriting the FILE1 that had all the new information.

No other data has been saved to that flash drive since the file was overwritten.

Is there any way to recover the data that was in the overwritten FILE1 on the
flash drive?

I have Data Rescue and have run a Deep Scan on the flash drive, which recovered
36 files, but none of them were the overwritten FILE1.
