I thought you might enjoy seeing how some firms are using the iPhone
technologies to protect us..

John

A good friend with contacts in the finance industry was talking with me last
night about internet security, then he mentioned he was talking to an employee
of the second largest Investment bank in this country and the topic of security
came up.

Seems that firm's App. for the iPhone has some unique features that helps them
know if the person using it is indeed their client.....read on.

The iPhone has several gyroscopes, and other technical names for devices that
allow programmers to design the many Apps., but these technologies also allow
the App designer to "learn" how we use our phone...how quickly do we take out
of our pouch or purse, do we type in the vertical or horizontal mode, how
quickly do we type....there are many factors they measure to develop a
"profile" of "us", thus if someone other than their client tries to enter a
trade, make a transfer, change passwords, etc. etc. they would immediately
deny the activity.

Had NO idea! Some may think this is being intrusive, maybe so, but with the
expertise of hackers I am thankful a financial firm is putting all this
technology to prevent misuse of my account.....

Now, it may well be that many Apps on the iPhone do the same and we had no
idea....who would have thought.

Security knows no price, don't settle for "open systems" that have little or no
oversight, the cheap price will be long forgotten by the cost of cleaning up a
huge mess....
