I use Internet sharing quite often when visiting one of my wife’s sisters. She
has an Internet connection from Comcast in her house, but the WiFi doesn’t get
to the bedroom where we stay. I run a Cat-6 wire down the hallway to bring a
connection into the bedroom and share that connection from my MacBook. We
connect to my MacBook with two iPhones, two iPads and two laptops. It works
well and I notice no slowdown of my MacBook Pro. Last summer, we streamed Major
League Baseball, NetFlix and a World of Warcraft connection all at the same
time over the shared connection.
