Open the mail app and choose the mailbox from which you want to delete messages.
Tap on the word “Edit”.
Choose the mails you want to delete.
Tap on “Trash”.

You can also delete all the mails in a folder by tapping “Mark All” before you
hit “Trash”.

With IMAP you can set up local folders on any machine and store selected
messages only on those machines.

You can do pretty much everything with IMAP that you can do with POP. IMAP does
a lot more than POP, but it does things differently.
