Harry,

Uverse telephone is no more “landline” than a phone number through TWC would
be. If you had DSL, maybe, but for the most part, long gone are the heady days
of mundane analog POTS [1] lines.

It’s all digital IP phone communication these days. Even if you have a regular
analog phone, it is converted to digital at the modem no matter which
technology you have.

It’s almost exactly the same. The only real difference is that AT&T delivers
their combined signal over a couple of copper wires and TWC delivers it over a
coaxial cable. Now if you actually had a POTS phone, that would be different.

And yes you can get whatever you want from either of them. I have my internet
with TWC and a second internet along with TV and phones on Uverse. I just go
with whoever has the best packages at the moment. I even play them off against
each other from time to time.

Oh, and once you get your TV through one of those whiz-bang DVR boxes offered
by either one you’ll never go back. It’s way too convenient.

That said, I hear you. I can’t wait for the new Apple TV as I intend to cut my
“cable” TV back even further.

The future of TV is apps, baby!
