Hi all,

After installing El Capitan (or Half Dome), I've been having trouble with
quirkiness in Mail.app. Specifically, it almost always says 'Checking for
Mail...' or 'Copying...' under the mailbox list. Mail has quit a couple of
times when I click on other mailboxes while one of these messages is showing.

I've tried rebuilding what would likely be part of the problem (a mailbox with
~14,000 messages in it), but then this causes Mail to delete all local copies
and to then download new copies... which means it then sits at 'Checking for
Mail...' forever.

All I can tell is that Mail.app uses a bunch of CPU briefly, and then uses
nothing. This would seem to indicate it is stuck. Then again, it could be done
without updating its message. Who knows. I've failed at finding anything on the
web except general complaints about Mail doing this or that miserable thing.

Any tips?

Bill

[1] FWIW, the crashes seem to happen if I close the lid on my laptop while Mail
is in the middle of its machinations.
