YOUR HELP NEEDED! GET GOOGLE FIBER TO LOUISVILLE.
On this Thursday Louisville Metro Council will be having a vote on TWO
ordinances that we must get passed to make Google Fiber a reality here. The
first is for a universal franchise agreement across Jefferson county. In the
past, a communications provider (such as Google) would have to negotiate
agreements with all 85 2nd and 3rd tier cities across the county. This first
part will provide for a single point of negotiation, greatly simplifying the
process. The second part deals with what is called “one-touch make ready” This
will allow communications providers such as Google to be able to dispatch their
own work crews to install fiber to your neighborhood, without having the
involvement of AT&T. Currently AT&T is involved in the process which can often
add months to an installation time.
There is a lot of pushback from AT&T (Against Technology & Telephony) and our
“friends” at TWC merging with Charter Communications (Details:

Obviously, when Google puts in their fiber Internet access, it is going to
have a negative effect on both of those companies. They are lobbying members of
the Council. WE NEED TO LOBBY BACK.
What you can do. Call your council person. Here is the URL

to get a listing where you can get the contact information on your council
person. Call up their office and let them know that we want GOOGLE FIBER. If
they want more jobs in Louisville then they have to pass these two ordinances.
If they want a better life in Louisville for their children and grand children
they need to pass both these ordinances. We may not have huge campaign
donations for council members but we have a bigger voice if their phones are
flooded with calls asking them to vote for the ordinances. Your Voice Counts,
Call Right Now. And, call David Yates, President of the Louisville Metro
Council at (502) 574-1125 and ask him to support these ordinances and move them
forward for approval on February 11, 2016.
Thanks for your help in bringing Google Fiber to Louisville and making our city
a true 21st Century city.
