An update on the Arris modem. Thanks a bunch to Dan for recommending this modem, much smaller footprint than the TimeWarner box, and all my mechanical is in a very small space so this help.
Also, TimeWarner support is terrific, I know, others haven’t had my good fortune but I have had the best. Here was the only bump. Once the TimeWarner lady got the modem working with a direct connection to the Mac we then set out to put in bridge mode. Worked forever, using Chrome as well as Safari…finally she suggested I call Motorola. On model SB6183 there is no WIRELESS connectivity, only ethernet so there is no bridge mode to set for wireless…she also was using the wrong IP address to get into the setting for the modem. So, if any of you decide to save yourself the monthly fee of the TW modem and should you want to go with the same modem myself and Dan have here are the IP addresses you need. Arris, Model SB6183 For a wireless modem use the IP: 192.168.0.1 For a non-wireless modem use the IP: 192.168.100.1 I am now up and running, speeds are exactly as they are with the TW box so now we await the April 13th launch date.
