I have a 24" iMac bought in 2007 and it is having problems. Apple telephone support doesn't think it is software problem so it might be dead. I'm taking it to the genius bar tomorrow. If it is dead, I'll need to get another iMac. Won't absolutely have to replace it tomorrow or next week or real soon. Was planning on replacing it this fall/winter (it seems that's the season when I buy computers) but I'm not sure if now or later in the year is the better time. I realize that a new computer's value drops drastically as soon as you walk out the door. But if anyone has any knowledge as to best, better, good time to purchase one, please let me know.
