Perhaps another app to consider is  [ iDefrag 5 ]  from  
<http://coriolis-systems.com>.
Their current version 5 supports Mac OS X ver. 10.11.  Shouldn’t be a problem 
if running from your system disk to defrag your time machine disk (run from 
different start-up disk if altering the system disk).
I use it with no issues or problems, although full defragmention does take a 
while.    : )
