I am setting my TIVO up to stream to my iPad. The instructions from TIVO say
“For out-of-home streaming to work, you must have Universal
Plug and Play (UPnP)
enabled on your home router. Refer to your router
manufacturer’s instructions for assistance
with enabling UPnP.”
I’ve accessed the router that AT&T supplied when we activated Uverse and cannot
find any reference to UPnP.
I queried the ATT help (accessed through the router) and didn’t really get
help. One response said I needed a secondary router behind the primary router
and another said if I enabled UPnP I was opening up my system for malware.
So, here are my questions:
1. If I can configure my router for UPnP am I opening my system up for malware?
2. How do I set up UPnP on my network?
