Yesterday I sent an email showing that the third choice of “download from
anywhere” was not listed, ONLY from Apple were the two choices.

I had a call set for 9:00, they called at 9:00 All American folks, most
unbelievable service.

Judy at the initial call could not fix the problem, she upgraded me to Phil.

Here is how it now works for UNAPPROVED vendors.

To protect us from some outside source “telling” us there is an upgrade, if
indeed there is one, we need to go to the VENDOR’s URL that is unapproved…..now
that I think about this it’s an amazing way to give us security

I went to the site that said there was an upgrade, sure enough it was legit. I
downloaded then when I opened the DMG I went BACK to Security in Preferences
and in the approved section THE VENDOR I HAD JUST DOWNLOADED was there with a
box for me to APPROVE!!

A few more steps but by this is a way to stop a hacker from “telling” us there
is an upgrade when it’s not really the firm we trust.

Apple thinks of everything. I would have sent Screenshots but I was on screen
sharing with the Apple Rep and I didn’t want him waiting for me to record each
step as he walked me through it.

Not sure if any of you will encounter, if you do this is how it works under
Sierra.

John
