This morning I couldn’t get the car out of park…dang. When the tow truck
arrived the driver said he had a car exactly like mine and he could show me how
to fix the problem…while I was leaning in from outside the car the iPhone was
on my hip, in a SOLID case, no way it can be bent..

All of a sudden I’m hearing some strange noises, then a voice…it’s a 911
operator. I answer and apologize, that I didn’t call.

THEN I start receiving calls from 4 people, those on my emergency list…(didn’t
know I had an emergency list).

Apple NOTIFIES everyone on your list….tells them I’ve place an emergency call
and gives them a map showing my location.

Had everyone scared to death, but when they realized they didn’t get to inherit
the debt they were happy.

I left for work and had traveled about a mile and another map was sent by Apple
showing each of them where I was now located.

When I arrived at work, another map was sent showing my new location.

This is a fantastic feature but how in the world do I turn it off? Why did it
happen in the first place?

I called Apple, and as always fantastic service. The tech walked me through
several changes, we did a screen share and hopefully this will stop the
tracking of my every move.

Apple will call me back after I’ve headed home to check on the status of
tracking.

It’s hard to tell if this was a problem with Apple or AT&T, if the work done on
the phone today doesn’t correct the problem then it’s on to AT&T to see if they
were sending out bogus calls to 911.

I an sending this to explain just how detailed Apple goes to protecting our
personal wellbeing, had this been a hostage situation I’m sure they would
return me but at least as long as the bad guy kept my phone I would be tracked.
AND there isn’t a setting on the phone where it can be turned off by the wrong
person….

Cool undocumented feature, I’ve owned these since the first iPhone and had no
idea this feature was there for my protection…
