Ed, I got to thinking maybe you were talking about Self Checkout, if so the scanner WON’T scan the phone…it’s not calibrated for anything other than the product barcodes….I would have to use the Kroger card on my keychain if I went through self checkout. In line they use a different hand scanner that will work for the phones. I also found another great addition to ApplePay….most of you may already know this… For my birthday I always ask for Apple, the family gets so sick and tired of this..but it’s better than socks or a tie…. The usual iTunes, then a couple for Apple, one came from an email, when received it gave me several choices…I could print and take the paper to the Apple Store, I could use the email OR I could add to my Wallet… I’ve never done this before but here’s how it works. From the email I chose add to Apple Wallet but for the one that was an actual gift card I discovered that all I had to do was click on the “Passes” and then the camera opens and it grabs the QR Code off the back of he card <image002.png> and instantly adds the amount to my wallet….so look at the Wallet now……I have the credit and debit cards above (some are behind others, not all show) then at the bottom I have the Passes listed, so my rewards card to Walgreens, same with Kroger the old Starbucks card I no longer use since they take ApplePay and at the top you see a “gray” Apple Store” and a small “tan” card behind the Apple Card, which is another Apple Store card. So shopping on line or in the store now I have everything on the iPhone…. <image003.png> I’m hoping that one day the restaurants will come into the 21st century and allow their gift cards to be added to our Wallets so payment can be made for the charges even if they don’t accept ApplePay. I’ll start the push with their managements. All this is so much easier, and safer than giving the server our card….Apple is striving to make our lives easier and more secure….we need to show we approve by using their system every chance we can. Additionally, legacy models sold in the same quarter last year (when the 6s was the latest iPhone model) accounted for 34% of all iPhones sold in the US. This year, that number fell to 19%. Even with the iPhone 8 set to be unveiled in the next two months, consumers are still buying the latest, greatest iPhones.
