Hi all, I'm thinking of upgrading my router. The main reason for this is that the (old) Airport Extreme doesn't have the greatest range, and I was hoping that a directed beam ac router would work better.
Here are the things which are important: Simultaneous dual (or better) band (which is now old hat) range ac QoS is less important, as are all the fancy things that allow simultaneous gaming and streaming. I was thinking about a Netgear Nighthawk R7000P router (currently ~$150). The reviews are good, especially mentioning quick speeds at long range, but many buyer reviews say that the router has a habit of dying after 6 months. The network guy at my work favors the ASUS RT-AC68U router.\ Does anyone have any recommendations for recent routers?
