Hi all, I did manage to mostly repair my phone last night.
Good news: with the new screen, the phone works better than id did ever since it's first crack in the screen 2 years ago. Way better than with a shattered screen. Bad news: Touch ID doesn't work. The Home button works fine, just no recognition of a thumb or finger (just one of 10 thumbs). I'm betting I messed up the infernal stuck-on cable coming off the Home button. I had to heat it to get it off, and then it still felt like I was forcing it to come off. I bet that I somehow tore something. I tried rebooting the phone. I tried hard-resetting the phone. I tried restoring the phone from a backup. [1] So, tonight I'll have to take the phone apart again (which is painful) to try and reseat the cable to the Home button. Does anyone have any tips for how I might check if I'm simply out of luck or tips on reseating a glued-on piece of sensitive equipment? Bill [1] All are given as solutions on-line. Must be solutions to other mishaps.
