I did read them, but none of those links seem to be specific enough to enable 
blocking only the unwanted cookies that are showing up.

Any specific references towards the third-party items you/they have mentioned?

I might have expected a checkbox in the accumulated cookie list to either 
“never save” or “never delete” a specific cookie.
