I have ADT cameras at each of the 4 doors that enter the home. There is a DVR that records everything 24/7…BUT ADT has NEVER been able to get the Mac community to access this devise. They can with a Windows machine but not Mac.
I’ve fought them over this for 13 years…. Today one of the cameras went offline, I called and happed to get a fantastic tech, he fixed the camera and I once again mentioned that it’s not right to shortchange the Mac community…he said he could walk me through how to set this up. It was a many step process but worked perfectly, now each of the cameras can be searched for days past, showing the activity for an entire 24 hours. Here is my question. We sat this up on a MacBook Pro, and he ask me if I wanted it so I could view on an iPad or iPhone? To do so I would need to open, I think it was port 3777. For now I said no, I wanted to ask this group if this was a wise idea. By doing this will I be opening access to the outside world I shouldn’t? Thanks for your suggestions.
