Tom, In the past I’ve used TimeMachine exclusively, it has worked flawlessly. If a program will not work on the new computer it won’t transfer, the icons in the Dock will be grayed out.
Once the transfer is complete & you use preferences to choose the same TimeMachine for the iMac you will be ask to approve the change & it will do a complete backup of the new one. I guess if the restore was good & you knew the new box was complete you could format TimeMachine & then do the first complete backup. There may be a better way , this is how I’ve done it. Enjoy your new system!! John. Sent from my iPhone > On Jul 31, 2018, at 9:34 PM, tom holloman <chuba...@gmail.com> wrote: > > Aloha all. Need advice. > Getting a new 27 in imac tomorrow.
