We stopped getting cable service about five or six years ago after we realized we weren’t watching most of the channels. Reasons for hooking it back up are getting weaker and weaker as time passes. I can address how we handle your “wants" point-by-point , but keep in mind I’ve never been much of a TV addict—except for baseball. 1) There are two options for broadband service in my neighborhood: AT&T and Spectrum. We’ve got the Spectrum service, mostly because it’s so much faster. It has been very reliable and we do get the promised speed. 2) I bought cheap amplified OTA indoor antennas from Amazon. All the local channels come in just fine. There are about 30 channels, when you count all the dot variants, perhaps a dozen of which occasionally have programming worth watching. 3) I don’t do this any more. Streaming on demand has kind of made it unnecessary. 4) We have five TVs—family room, kitchen, master bedroom and our two offices. All have OTA antennas. Four have Rokus and the one in my office has an Amazon Fire TV Stick. Three of the four Rokus are hard-wired to the house network with Ethernet. One of the Rokus and the Fire Stick use the WiFi network. (I have a guest WiFi network and that’s where they’re attached.) By the way, as an experiment, I started streaming HD video on all the TVs at once, and it worked with nary a hiccup. L^2 --- Lee Larson [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> Debugging?
