It depends on from where you got your NeoOffice. If you got it from the 
NeoOffice site, you might need Java. If you got it from the Mac App Store, you 
don’t need Java because all the Java-dependent features have been neutered. 
This is because Apple does not allow Java-dependent programs in the App Store.

I think most (all?) the Java dependencies in Open(Libra)(Neo)Office are in the 
database, but I could be wrong.
