Thanks so much Lee and everyone in the group!

I echo everyones dismay about closing the group! I don’t post often but as Beth
and others said - it has been a huge source of help and information for me over
the years. Such great people reside here!

So - with that said - the following site might be an answer to the problem.

https://groups.io/ <https://groups.io/>

I belong to a group there for genealogy. However - when searching the site - it
turns out there are 100s of different groups dedicated to almost anything you
can imagine.

Each group has a moderator and this group was set up to replace a huge
genealogy message board, Rootsweb, that is closing since being taken over by
Ancestry.

They deliver messages just like MacGroup - by email in individual or digest
form. Sign up is by replying to an invitation email from the moderator. After
that you can go to the site - creat a user name and password and set
preferences for how you want to receive messages. Replies are sent just as they
are now - by email and answered the same way.

The moderator of my group says it is a free site. I would suspect that depends
on how much storage is involved. Since there is no advertising they have to
make money somehow! I suspect if lots of attachments, images, etc. are sent
there might be a cost. Anyway - maybe it’s a possibility.

Hope this helps!

Cheers - Lona
