You could use includes to help separate them and clean them via the 
mach-ii.xml file and separate them out a bit more... i was getting timeouts 
before and this helped.

        <include file="/approot/system/config/handlers/site.xml"         
override="true" /> 
        <include file="/approot/SF/system/config/handlers/metrics.xml"     
override="true" /> 
 </includes>
