Description: Increasingly, Microsoft Exchange servers rely on ESMTP keywords to send
mail to other Exchange servers and
MSN-related services. Unfortunately, Exchange sends mail without preforming correct
ESMTP negotiation, and will use ESMTP
without regard for the other endpoints' capacity to understand it. This ESMTP
stripping will cause mail to/from certain
servers to not be transferred properly. It also precludes AUTH-style ESMTP logins from
capable mail clients (Outlook and
Outlook Express are two examples).
Workaround: Replace the SMTP service with a Filtered-SMTP service or configure your
local mail server to use SMTP instead
of ESMTP.
Current Status: Fixed in upcoming release.
