, . : First of all we really apologize for the continuous delay and shift for the release of CalibratorTalk for Mac OS X. We sure get a lot of frustrated people contacting us about this issue and they all have good arguments, so we are fully aware of the importance of this problem. But although it may sound strange to you, we are still trying very hard to get it up and running, so please let us explain what the current situation is. Situation
Mac OS 10.1.x has very poor supported features for special HID (Human Interface Device) USB devices that are not mice, keyboard. Our Calibrator display is such a device and thus requires specific communication through USB. Microsoft has supported these devices since they supported USB (since Windows 98) and there you can just start to communicate to such a device in a rather easy way. Finally, Mac OS 10.2 is there and it indeed has similar functionality for these devices. So it looks we are going to focus on this path now. It would indeed require you to upgrade your Mac OS to 10.2. We did already big efforts for 10.1.x, but it is still far from finished. What do we have right now? For Mac OS X, we currently have a beta version that can communicate to the display through RS232, so it means you need a Keyspan device to do the calibration. This indeed runs the calibration and generates a good profile. What will we have when? Although it is very dangerous to define targets right now, we are working on a version with 10.2 and we expect to have a beta version that fully supports the USB communication channel by the end of September. At this time, we certainly would not have any remaining excuses if we cannot reach this target. The final release is then scheduled for 1 month later. Your feedback! Please let us know if you still have a Keyspan device and want to get the beta version that is running now through RS232 communication. And also let us know if the path for choosing for 10.2 is an acceptable path for you, or if you really want to stick to 10.1.x. You can review all extra new features of 10.2 at http://www.apple.com/macosx/ Do you still have a keyspan? Yes No Do you want to receive the beta version of the driver (RS232)? Yes No Is the path for choosing for 10.2 acceptable?
