What does it mean for BeagleBone machinekit existing and new

Hi
I don't see it changes anything
There is no reason I am aware of to use a Wheezy based image with BBB.
The Robert Nelson image is based upon Jessie, so in a couple of weeks
that will have the new code in it.
http://elinux.org/Beagleboard:BeagleBoneBlack_Debian#BBW.2FBBB_.28All_Revs.29_Machinekit
That's completely fine if there is working jessie image for BBB. But,
as I remember, I and Alexander R. couldn't use it.
I hope functions like pru pwmgen, stepgen, encoders, eQEP and ADC will
work right, otherwise I will have to stick to wheezy with all my
BB+machinekit projects.
I am unaware of any problem preventing the use of Jessie and would be
very surprised if Alex had found a problem and not reported / fixed it
If you won't upgrade to Jessie for some reason, your code will continue
as now, but you just won't get any package updates.
Unfortunately support has to end somewhere and Wheezy has been a problem
for some while to keep going.
Debian only make security updates to Wheezy now and next year support
will end completely.
Good to know. I am still integrating Wheezy, as Jessie is "userspace"
in at least LinuxCNC docs. .
I have been using Jessie for development and to run machines since early
Beta stage.
linuxcnc 'userspace' builds are a 'late in the day' attempt by linuxcnc
to catch up with what has always been possible in Machinekit, running
rt-preempt kernels.
Jessie is only 'userspace' in the linuxcnc docs, because they haven't
managed to build a rtai kernel for Jessie.
Hardware step generation etc. renders rtai redundent, which is why so
many of their users now run rt-preempt with Mesa boards on motherboards
such as the J1900, which give servo thread max jitter lower than many
were able to achieve previously on a rtai base thread.
A lot of them are using Jessie, or Ubuntu 14 or other recent distros,
because with no need for rtai, they don't need to stick with Wheezy.
