Leave the PRU period set to something sensible and use the steplen,
stepspace, and dirsetup/dirhold values to control the pulse timing.
Based on the user manual, it looks like setting all four values to
25000 should work for you.

The rise/fall time is spec'd as *minimum*, not maximum, and any of the
first three drive circuits listed in the manual should work with the
BBB, depending on what you've got handy for parts and power rails.
