Hi I have followed these instructions <https://machinekoder.com/machinekit-debian-stretch-beaglebone-black/> to get my machinekit installed and running on BBB.
On that page, under the subtitle, *Install the RT Kernel*, there is a command (sudo apt install linux-firmware-image-`uname -r`) proposed for installing firmware packages. When I insert that command in PuTTY, I get: > machinekit@beaglebone:~$ sudo apt install linux-firmware-image-`uname -r` > > Reading package lists... Done > > Building dependency tree > > Reading state information... Done > > The following NEW packages will be installed: > > linux-firmware-image-4.4.155-ti-rt-r153 > > 0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. > > Need to get 182 kB of archives. > > After this operation, 557 kB of additional disk space will be used. > > Err:1 http://repos.rcn-ee.com/debian stretch/main armhf >> linux-firmware-image-4.4.155-ti-rt-r153 armhf 1stretch > > Temporary failure resolving 'repos.rcn-ee.com' > > E: Failed to fetch >> http://repos.rcn-ee.com/debian/pool/main/l/linux-upstream/linux-firmware-image-4.4.155-ti-rt-r153_1stretch_armhf.deb >> >> Temporary failure resolving 'repos.rcn-ee.com' > > E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with >> --fix-missing? > > My Status: - I have already gone through all the steps in that instruction up to where I have trouble with; i.e I have updated, upgraded, "*installed the basics"*, etc. - I found here <http://repos.rcn-ee.com/debian/pool/main/r/rtl8723bu-modules-4.4.155-ti-rt-r153/>, which looks like what is supposed to be installed as *firmware* on BBB. I thought I could download the link using its address like: - My firewall, antivirus ,etc are turned off. wget http: //repos.rcn-ee.com/debian/pool/main/r/rtl8723bu-modules-4.4.155-ti-rt-r153/rtl8723bu-modules-4.4.155-ti-rt-r153_1stretch_armhf.deb or, just in case with https wget https: //repos.rcn-ee.com/debian/pool/main/r/rtl8723bu-modules-4.4.155-ti-rt-r153/rtl8723bu-modules-4.4.155-ti-rt-r153_1stretch_armhf.deb but in both cases I get: machinekit@beaglebone:~$ http://repos.rcn-ee.com/debian/pool/main/r/rtl8723bu-modules-4.4.155-ti-rt-r153/rtl8723bu-modules-4.4.155-ti-rt-r153_1stretch_armhf.deb -bash: http://repos.rcn-ee.com/debian/pool/main/r/rtl8723bu-modules-4.4.155-ti-rt-r153/rtl8723bu-modules-4.4.155-ti-rt-r153_1stretch_armhf.deb: No such file or directory Can anyone help with this please? Any help is much appreciated *As a side note, I'm quite new to everything I'm working on in Linux, BBB, M.K, etc. So, can you please put your reply in a more detailed way?
