Hi,

I have a specific question to using the tool table and tools in general and
a general question on debugging gcode.

My situation:
Running Machinekit on BBB using Touchy as UI. Machine is a lathe. Generally
works like a charm. Now I need to set tools and tool radius to get a proper
radius cut on a workpiece. The issue is that this code is not working:

My tool table file:
T1 P1 X0 Z0 D0.2 I90 J30 Q2

Whenever I insert either
M6 T1 G43
or
T1 G43
or
T1

My gcode stops working (it works without tool selection and cutter
compensation)

I also tried to use G10 L1 P1 R0.02 Q2 before the line with T1. Same result
+ this erases the tool table file.

My specific question what is wrong with this approach?

My general question is related to error messages (and touchy). I'm using
Linuxcnc / Axis on a Mill on a PC and know that is prints helpful error
messages that help debugging these kind of gcode related problems. In my
case on the lathe I just don't get any information. No error, message,
nothing. The machine just does not start. Is there a way to debug this?
Which interface(es) is/are used to convey error messages? Can / will this
be written in a log file? I'm happy to debug touchy here / add
functionality but I don't really know where to start.

Any help would be appreciated
Many thanks,
Malte
