Looks like it's been fixed for Mac IE 5.1, though you still don't get a
pointing hand when you hover over the links. Clicking on them does
cause IE to navigate to the linked URL.

Subject: possible IE5/Mac bug
Hi, sorry for the unceremonious arrival.
I've found an oddity which may or may not be a known issue with IE5/Mac
(not
5.1). Sorry if it's known already...
Synopsis:
<a href=""> links do not function correctly within position: fixed
elements.
Details:
The 'active site' of a link - the area that is clicked to activate a
link, shown
by the round-edged highlight box that IE draws around links, has its
position
fixed with respect to the normal flow and not with respect to the
position:fixed
element. The text of the link is positioned correctly, with the result
that
scrolling a page which has links in a position: fixed element causes the
active
sites of the links to scroll with the page, abandoning the text of the
link and
making it unclickable.
The best way to see this in action is by clicking-and-holding on the
link,
sliding off it and releasing the mouse button, which leaves the
link-highlight
box in place. Then scroll...
Reproducible:
Always.
My system:
Apple iBook (indigo 366 MHz), MacOS 9.1
Umax Pulsar 180MHz, MacOS 8.6
IE 5 (5.0 2022)
