I am using IE 5.0 in OS 9.1 on a G4 with 384 MB RAM.

I increased IE's memory partition to 100 MB and with about 10 windows open,
IE uses less than one-third of that memory. Yet I still get error messages
saying that IE is "running critically low on memory," and that I should
close some windows before opening any more windows.

When I run IE alone, this usually doesn't happen; but if I open ANY OTHER
program, whether it's Microsoft Excel or merely the Apple Scrapbook, the
error will usually occur soon afterwards. Sometimes I don't get that
message. Instead, the program quits and I get the message that IE has
"unexpectedly quit."

I am new to this mailing list, and I would like to know if anyone has any
ideas about this.

Thanks! M. Kichline
