I have seen the Gartner study mentioned before. Thanks for sending it. It has been
added to my bag of ammo. :)

>And as much as I hate to say it, Windows has gotten
> better.

I would have to disagree. -Well, I take that back: "better" is a relative term. Sure,
it's gotten better than it was before... improved to "sucks" from "really sucks" (but
just barely). When I started this job a few weeks ago, the district gave me a brand
new Compaq laptop with XP. The processor is a P4, something up in the high GHz
range... it is still slow as molasses. And XP? Don't even get me started. Why do I
still have to install drivers for a mouse? A MOUSE! All those stupid headaches are
still there.

Back on topic: I have been doing research on "mobile labs" (laptop carts) and got
quotes from Apple and Dell. The Apple quote was $25,659.00. This includes 20 iBooks
with 800MHz G3, 30GB HD, 256 RAM, CD-ROM, Appleworks and other software, Airport
cards, Airport base station, laser printer, and 3 year extended Applecare warranty.
The quote I got from Dell was $30,859.40. This includes 20 Dell Inspiron 1100s with
2GHz Celeron, 30GB HD, 256 RAM, CD-ROM, 802.11b cards, and 3-year limited warranty (no
office suite software, no printer). If he turns out to be one of these people that
thinks only in dollars and cents, then based on these figures the choice should be
crystal clear.

Thanks again,
