In addition to the typical speeding violations and unsafe loads, police also found many people exhibiting what Woolley called "some pretty bizarre behaviour."

One driver was ticketed July 1 after flipping an officer a rude gesture.

An officer passing in an unmarked car gestured a warning to the driver that he should be wearing his seat-belt. The man replied with a one-fingered salute.

But his violations went beyond rudeness and the lack of a seat-belt, Woolley said. The driver didnt have insurance and was found to be banned from driving.

The unidentified man said he didnt realize the man in the unmarked car was a police officer.

Another man, this one already under a lifetime driving ban for dangerous driving, added another dubious entry to his record at the start of the patrol June 28.

Police said the unidentified 65-year-old from Stroud, Ont., tried to run down a police officer and rammed into another car before crashing into the median.

The man faces a series of charges, including one for impaired driving.
