Lorraine called tonight with an update on
Joe. Some of you know that Joe went in for exploratory surgery a week ago
Monday following a recurrence of pain. They sent him home on the Thursday,
and he is now back in hospital. He went in a few days ago for a
rest. He was feeling miserable, and vomiting a lot. Lorraine says
that he looks much better today, with I.V. and finally straightening out some
medications. He will be starting chemo again tomorrow, possibly for 9
weeks. If things go well, they will be releasing him, and giving him chemo
on an out-patient basis.
The new lymphoma is very intense. They have
given him a 50% chance, but feel that since he does not have heart or blood
pressure problems, and no diabetes, that his chances may be better than
most.
He is expecting a bone marrow transplant in
addition to the chemotherapy.
Lorraine asked that everyone be told, as she does
not have time to field a lot of questions. She will keep us updated, but
has been off work ill herself with all the stress. She does ask for
everyone's prayers as Joe fights this battle. Please keep Joe and
Rita, and the rest of the Boston gang in your thoughts.
