I'm not sure what the 'Appleshare client' is, but I'm using:

iMac: Appletalk 2.7.4 & AT Driver 61.0
Duo: Appletalk 2.0.3 & AT Driver 60.0a6

Is that what you meant?

Also, Dan & Al were right, it just works and keeps reporting 1.99GB
available. When I tried it before, I tried to move a folder with over 2GB
of DV clips in it and it wouldn't let me. As long as I move less than 2GB
at once, it seems OK.

Does file sharing over TCP/IP work faster than Appletalk? I stopped copying
nearly 2GB since the dialogue box estimate was over 3 hours. I would like
to get closer to the 10Mbps Ethernet speed. Am I better off setting up web
sharing and using an FTP client? Any ideas welcome!
