Hi there. Lemme give you some background and see if anyone can give
me some ideas on what's going wrong.
I've got a Version 2 Apple Airport Base Station setup, connected via
the Ethernet port to a 10/100 Baystack 450 Ethernet Switch (spanning
tree shut off). Connecting to this Station via Rev. C Airport cards I
have 6 G4s, a Cube, and an iBook.
I have the base station set up with a static IP, and have it doing
routing (DHCP and NAT services shut off).
My problem is this... the base station will be cooking along just
fine, routing Appletalk and IP connections when, inexplicably, the
activity lights for Airport and Ethernet will both just cease
operation, and all network activity handled by the base station
ceases. The center status light stays constantly glowing(indicating
that it should be operating just peachy), but the station is just
dead. You can't even connect to it with the administration software
or select it as an access point in the Airport software.
This problem, however, is easily fixed by unplugging the basestation
and letting it start back up. Then it works just fine, until it
decides to stop working again. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or
reason to the failures.
Since this basestation is used in a classroom lab environment, having
to "reboot" the basestation frequently isn't really a good solution.
Any ideas what could be wrong? Maybe I just got a lemon and need to
return it?

Thanks in advance for any answers/suggestions. =)
