        Well, that depends on what you're used to.  Given that even 
quadras are pretty cheap these days, you might want to save the $5 or 
$10 for the price of the PRAM battery and use it to buy a Quadra. 
Also, you can get a Quadra with NetBSD-supported on-board Ethernet; 
with the IIcx, you'll have to make sure that the card you use is 
supported.

        With a IIcx on a 10 megabit network, with a small number of 
users sharing things like typically-sized MS Word documents, you'll 
find that the network speed will tend to be the limiting factor.

        Where the IIcx's slowness will really kill you is in 
compiling packages.  This is totally dependent on processor speed. 
Then again, you won't have to do this all the time.  But, really -- 
even on a Quadra 800, I found that some packages (along with their 
prerequisites) took many, many hours to compile.
