Oh my head! I went through every PM 6100 i had, and my 840AV trying to figure out why none of them would switch to built in ethernet. I use the same tranciever on each one, and I always get an error that says "Error switching apple talk connection. check your network connections and try again." So i check and make sure the AAUI to 10bT connector isnt loose, and it isnt, then i check all my extensions, i have Ethernet Built in Version 1.5, Ether Talk phase 2 version 1.5 on all the 6100s. On the 840AV I have the built in ethernet and ether talk extensions installed with OS 8.1. 5 of the 6100s are running OS 7.1.2, and the 6100AV is running OS 7.5.5.
I have no idea what could be wrong with all these computers (or, more likely, what im doing wrong) Please Help, my LC 580 died, so ive lost all internet...except for my Intel boxes....
