Also, I agree - program linking is not necessary unless you want to link programs, not just files or folders or partitions/volumes. Yes, you do need to select the items you choose to share. You do this one time, unless you later change your choices. In OS 8 or later you do this through the file menu get info; in System 7 you do this through the file menu "Share this item and its contents". In OS 9, there's excellent Mac Help in the Finder on this process. Also, at the Apple web site, you get a good summary of the process in: TIL 43015. I'm sending the Reverend a separate text copy.
