I called Xantrex customer service and found that several units have

high rate of failure, based upon my experience with China electronics
products. This is exactly what was happening in the 1950s with Japan
products, they mostly did not work then and parts were a joke to get!!!

I'll resist taking offense to your opinion of Chinese goods and simply state that your problem is not uncommon.....FOR ANYTHING.

As any consumer knows, from time to time you get a bunk part. It's why the majority of retail outlets have a 30 to 90 day return policy, and it's why we should test our purchases, find issues, and promptly return them if found to be defective.

For what it's worth, I came across a 300W Coleman inverter at Fry's (Outpost.com) for $29.99 that has, so far, been great for powering the company Dell while on road trips. I figure if Coleman is good enough to keep me safe from wilderness, prepare my food, zap pesky insects, and build a flashlight that's lasted over 15 years, it should know what it's doing with a power inverter. Money well spent.

But thanks for the heads up.
