I'd venture to guess that you already have a router in the modem and that is providing you multiple IP addresses for the multiple machines. As previously noted most Internet providers only provide one IP address to the modem. Figure out what IP addresses the machines are getting, if it is in the 10.x.x.x range or 192.168.x.x then your modem is doing the job of the router.
