Hello,
I hope someone still remembers AppleShare 3.0. I am trying to keep a LAN of 15 LCII's using a Quad 950 server running in a school lab.
I can start up the server, start AppleShare file serving, then start up the stations, and access the programs I want from the server. But, the server will drop the connection after a time with the message, "The server has unexpectedly dropped the connection." And I cannot get the connection back without shutting everything off and restarting from scratch. Even then I sometimes have to go through the process a few times.
The net is small coax ethernet, CS NIC cards with BNC connectors daisy chained. Yes, terminated both ends.
All LCII's are using 10 MB of memory and have OS7.5.5 installed. The server has 40 MB RAM, big old Seagate 5.25" HD and OS8.1. The server has AppleShare 3.0 installed.
Any suggestions about this problem, hardware or software? I've got the manuals for AppleShare.
Jim
