I run a cross-platform network with Classic Mac, Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux systems. At the moment I am trying to determine what if any of the functionality Outlook gains via an Exchange Server can be replaced by my Mac OS X Server v.10.3.1.
For example, Exchange provides contact lists to Outlook for address book functionality, can I substitute an LDAP server based address book for that?
Next related question is, does anyone have any experience setting up a LDAP server based address book directory on Mac OS X Server? I want to create a server based address book so that clients using AddressBook in OS X can have access to a master list of contacts. As I indicated above, I would like to do the same for Outlook and I am also investigating which other PIMs will support LDAP based directories.
Thanks in advance,
David
