Hi,

I'm new to the list and need some help.

I am trying to connect a PowerBook 2300 Duo to my G4 iMac. The Duo is running OS 8.1 and the iMac is running Panther with latest update.

The iMac is connected to my home network via Airport Extreme. I have a Farallon EtherWave plugged into the Duo's serial port, this gives me 2 ethernet ports for the Duo. I want to connect the Duo directly to the iMac in order to copy files from the iMac. I do not need to connect the Duo to the internet.

I have turned on Sharing and AppleTalk is active on both machines. At one point last night I had them connected. I don't know what I did but i just kept playing with settings and finally the iMac was able to browse to the Duo. On the Duo, I could see the imac in Chooser, but it would never connect. I think the message was invalid ID/PW or something.

Well, now today I can't get a connection. I've tried everything I can think of. I have disabled Airport and enabled it. I've turned AppleTalk on and off on both machines just to reset it. I have restarted each machine.

No matter what I try I can't get a connection.

So, is there any full-proof method for getting these connected via AppleTalk?

As I'm typing this I'm thinking that I should just go plug the Duo into my hub (it's upstairs) If I do that will the iMac be able to see the Duo???

Thanks,
Brian
