I've had good luck using iVisit (free version, www.ivisit.com) on Mac OS 9.1 to connect to Windows users -- both on DSL. Other apps required "poking a hole" in the firewall or other things that seemed to get in the way and didn't work for me. I use my camcorder plugged into the S-video in port on my 8600 and the standard Mac mic. My Kensington webcam is flaky and can't go beyond Mac OS 8.6. Even without a webcam you can use iVisit to talk via the Internet, although the quality is sometimes poor.
