Help please,

I am the only Mac (iBook G4, 1.33 Ghz, 768 RAM, OSX 10.3.9) recently connected on a Windows network, with privilege just for internet access. Network status reports that I am connected to the internet via buil-in Ethernet (manual webproxy: isa server via port 8080) but when I start Safari (1.3) or Mail (1.3.11) I get nothing. So I tried Firefox (1.0.6) and that connects very well. Internet Explorer also functions.
For mail I tried Thunderbird (1.0.6) but no success.
All programs function well when i connect via iSP dial-up.

I know nothing about networking. Is there something I should do on my system, or is there anything I can tell my network administrator who has no experience wth Macs?

Gratefull for your assistance

Toga
