Your LaserWriter is actually connected by LocalTalk. You need only
install Apple's free LocalTalk Bridge (or LaserWriter Bridge) control
panel, plug your printer cable into the printer port, and select
Ethernet
in the AppleTalk control panel. Then both computers will be able to
print
as long as the 7300 is turned on. This can work for any Postscript
Level
2 LaserWriter, but not the really old Level 1 units.
Thank you Bryan. Another lister, Chris, having trouble communicating
via Mac Network sent me essentially similar advice, and instructions
and I am indebted. I was able to print from the QS in TextEdit. In
the Classic programs I had to fiddle about as it said no printer
known etc... but succeeded (no box comes up to give me options for
number of copies as on the 7300... but it is early days! I was just
pleased to be able to print anything from the QS!) I found an option
to make a desktop printer and I can drag things to it on the QS and
it worked on my brief test. It looks so good on the desktop;
"Laserwriter 4 600 PS" it calls itself!
For anyone who might want the link to LocalTalk Bridge:

Thanks all and (publicly) Chris, for this link and other things...
