On iOS the answer is very clear.  Kerberos authentication is handled by the 
system such that it either works or it doesn't.  There's no way for you app to 
intervene; you don't even get the authentication challenge.

For OS X I've never really converged on a proper understanding of how this is 
supposed to work.  If no one else chimes in, my recommendation is that you open 
a DTS tech support incident so I can investigate in depth.
